Transportation Intelligence Hub

From scattered reports to a shared source of transportation intelligence.

My contribution

Conceived and built the solution, developed the analytical skills, integrated sources and evolved the platform through stakeholder feedback.

~30 min

monthly review, previously 6–7 hours

The context

Transportation information was spread across roughly 25 sources. Answering even routine questions required exports, reconciliation and manual reporting. The same effort was repeated by people who needed a reliable view of performance and shipments in transit.

The approach

I began with a view of delivered shipments, learning Power BI and developing my Snowflake fluency while securing the access and stakeholder support needed to build it.

I connected the sources and progressively added expected performance for shipments still at sea, giving Planning and Markets visibility they had not previously had in one place.

Recurring transit-time analysis, rate lookups, carrier performance, port legs, pre-legs and distribution-centre views became part of the same platform. Each iteration responded to a concrete business question.

Ocean Risk Radar added a forward-looking view of environmental and cultural events that could affect markets. Ocean Strategy Overview extended the platform into procurement decision support.

What changed

  • An estimated 21.9 hours of manual work saved each month across reporting and analysis activities.
  • A monthly transit-time review that previously took approximately 6–7 hours now takes around 30 minutes, focusing attention on exceptions and their causes.
  • A shared source of truth for operational and strategic conversations, with fewer exports and less maintenance of separate reports.
  • Recognised by peers and managers as the best initiative of a quarter in 2026, with growing international visibility.
I started by wanting a better report. The bigger opportunity was to build a better way of making decisions.
